Despite the riots in Athens, the layover in Newark on the way to Athens (no layover at EWR is long enough to avoid problems, "they" say), and all the buses in Athens with mathematical formulas for destinations, we are getting ready for this extraordinary trip. This cruise on the rebuilt Silver Wind (http://www.silversea.com/ships/silver-wind/) will visit 19 ports in 22 days, travel up and down the Adriatic and Eastern Mediterranean Sea, covering 4909 miles. I am looking forward to visiting Egypt and Israel and of course Taormina and Venice again, and will add two more countries to my list (but who's counting), bringing the total to 133 using the Traveler's Century Club official list, http://www.travelerscenturyclub.org/countries.html. I hope to update my picture in Rhodes. Above is the one from the last visit in June, 1999, along with a Medieval print that showed me where to stand.
I've set up a Google Groups site that might (and then again it might not) provide a way for you to be notified automatically when I make new posts to this blog. You may need to set an option* on the group site--after you accept my invitation to join the group--to get the notification from the group (or maybe not, as the case may be). I'm trying to understand how all this works but so far with only limited success. Now you know why I need the cruise....
*It appears that when one is viewing my first post on the Group site, an OPTION button appears on the upper right margin of the post. Clicking that will reveal a button on the upper left that will set up an automatic "one a day" (it says) e-mail of posts to the group, meaning you'll get notice of the update. (He said).
